Recover{ED}

I started a new movement on facebook today after going to see Jess Weiner talk at the Emily Program's Recovery Night last night. After her talk and later that night a few of us sat around outside and talked about Jess's discussion. Her recovery is in a similar spot to mine and I discussed with her about taking personal responsiblity in your recovery. I've used the recover{ED} logo before to motivate other about "recovery happens, it can and it will" but I like it for the purpose of this movement.
This is a lonely place in recovery and you don't hear many openly talk about it. I'm not sure why. I don't know if people don't get to this spot in recovery or if people just fizzle out in recovery and could care less by this time or really what..but for some reason, I HAVE reached this spot in recovery and it's very hard to find others in this spot. Jess Weiner is one of them and her talk last night was my "pat on the back" and sign that I am on the right path from my higher power. I needed to be in that building last night listening to her and talking to her outside. It's just reconfirming to me to keep moving forward as I am going and keep doing the Recovery thing. Doing the next right thing..and I shall try.
Please visit my movement on facebook and "like" it! HERE!
Recover{ED} is all about taking responsibility in your recovery. There gets a time and a place when you are in recovery when YOU need to take a look at where YOU are. You need to start relying on yourself, listening to all the wisdom you have learned on your journey in recovery and put it to practice. Of course, you still lean on those around you, but what happens when you get into a place of recovery when you seem to have different experiences than others and it's harder to find those that can relate? You need to start relying on your own recovered thoughts and feelings and start looking at all the tools you were taught to keep you living through your life and start really listening to YOURSELF. You may be told that you now need to lose some weight due to health reasons after you're weight has been restored (and then some) for years and then what? You may of decided to have that glass of wine after 8 years of not drinking and now what? Have you failed recovery? How do you look at recovery and take responsibility for it? At what point does it become a personal responsibility in your life when it's recovery? In the beginning of recovery it is a lot of other's responsibilities...your therapists, your nutritionist, your spouses...everyone's including you but when you have the courage to branch off and take the personal responsibility in your recovery because you are listening to yourself, I think that's when you know that you are on the right path...still.
